We’re working with a well-established and growing business operating across multiple successful companies.
As part of their continued growth, they’re now looking for an Accounts Assistant to join their finance team and support the day-to-day accounting activities across the wider group.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting core finance processes and helping ensure the smooth running of the finance function.
This is a varied, hands-on role that will give you exposure to multiple businesses and a broad range of accounting activities. It’s a great opportunity for someone who wants to take ownership of their work, develop their experience and gain wider exposure across finance.
The Role
- Processing purchase and sales ledger transactions
- Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Performing regular bank reconciliations
- Assisting with month-end processes
- Posting journals and maintaining the general ledger
- Supporting credit control activities
- Liaising with internal teams and external suppliers
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records across multiple businesses
- Supporting the Finance Manager with wider finance activities and reporting
- Identifying opportunities to improve and streamline finance processes
- Taking ownership of day-to-day accounting tasks and ensuring work is completed accurately and on time
About You
We’re looking for someone with previous experience in an accounts or finance role who has a good understanding of core accounting principles and is comfortable working independently.
You’ll ideally have:
- Previous experience working in an accounts or finance position
- A good understanding of core accounting principles, including debits and credits
- Experience posting journals
- Must be AAT Qualified or Studying
- Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload
- The confidence to take ownership of your responsibilities
- Good communication skills and the ability to liaise with colleagues and external suppliers
- A proactive approach to problem solving and improving processes
- The ability to work across multiple businesses or entities and manage competing priorities
