About the Company
Our client is a leading insurance organisation with a strong presence in the UK market. Due to continued growth and the development of their finance operations, they are looking to appoint an experienced Credit Control Manager to lead their credit management function.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced insurance finance professional to take ownership of credit control operations, improve cash performance, and play a key role in supporting the wider Finance team.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Finance Operations, the Credit Control Manager will be responsible for overseeing the collection of outstanding premiums and receivables, managing key stakeholder relationships, and ensuring effective credit control processes are maintained.
You will lead a team of credit control professionals and work closely with Underwriting, Finance, Brokers, Claims and external partners to improve cash flow, reduce aged debt, and maintain strong financial controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Credit Control function, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations.
- Oversee the collection of outstanding insurance premiums, broker balances and other receivables.
- Monitor aged debt reports and develop strategies to reduce overdue balances.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients and internal stakeholders.
- Manage escalations relating to overdue payments and disputed balances.
- Produce regular credit control reporting and management information for senior stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and reporting capabilities.
- Support month-end financial close activities relating to premium receivables.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements and audit standards.
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing credit control team.
About You
You will be an experienced Credit Control professional with a strong understanding of insurance finance operations and a proven track record of improving cash collection performance.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience managing a Credit Control function within insurance or financial services.
- Strong understanding of premium collections and insurance receivables.
- Experience managing aged debt and improving cash performance.
- Proven team leadership and people management experience.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence internal and external partners.
- Strong analytical skills with experience producing financial reports and MI.
- Good knowledge of finance processes, controls and reconciliations.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable
- Experience working within the London Market or general insurance sector.
- Knowledge of broker accounting and insurance premium processes.
- Experience with finance systems such as SAP, Oracle, Dynamics or similar.
- AAT, CIMA, ACCA or relevant finance qualification (or working towards).
